Out like a lion?

We are two days away from the official start of spring, but here in Derry, we’ve gotten more snow! The library is open and ready to keep boredom at bay during today’s snow day. Don’t forget that we have DVD’s, video games of all kinds (Wii, PS3, XBox 360), CD’s, and of course, rooms full of BOOKS! Today might be a great day to check out the Reading Adventure Room for the first time.  We keep all of our magazines, comic books, and graphic novels together so you can find them easily. A snow day is also a great excuse to start catching up on book club reading*! Our April book clubs are as follows: -Tuesday, April 9th: Chapter Readers Book Club @ 3:30 pm (The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane) -Tuesday, April 16th: Early Chapter Readers Book Club @ 3:30 pm (Freckle Juice) The books for book club are ready to be loaned out to children wishing to register. Please stop by the Children’s desk to get your copy and sign up! For more information see the “Afterschool Clubs” button to the right. And finally, we want to spread the word that despite today’s blustery, wintry weather we are getting ready for the SUMMER READING PROGRAM! Though I can’t disclose any details of our programs or decor (yet!), I would like to put out a call for LEGO bricks. We’d like to get a LEGO club up and running this summer and we can’t do it without your help! We need bricks–lots of ’em. If you have LEGOs lying around your house we would love to accept your donation. All shapes, all sizes, all colors. Bits and pieces from kits would also be great! We’ll be putting the word out more and more in the coming days, but if you know someone with LEGO parts to spare, let them know about our plans. Thank you for all your help. -Courtney *Note: Miss Jackie’s book club will still be meeting TODAY at 3:30 pm in the Reading Adventure Room for a discussion of The Littles. See you there!
